New Dataset: Wake of an Isolated Rotating Wheel

Understanding the development of wake from a rotating wheel can provide insight into the best method of controlling the flow to achieve minimal drag. This dataset from Loughborough University provides PIV measurements in a number of salient planes to show the development of the wake from a rotating wheel.
The drag force acts to reduce the speed of the vehicle and is constantly being overcome by the engine, resulting in increased fuel consumption. At high speed, the drag is more significant as it is proportional to the square of the speed of the vehicle (U2).
The data is available via the NWTF Experimental Database, which offers open access to high-quality wind tunnel datasets from UK aerospace and automotive research.
