PIV Workshop with Data Collection and Processing
- Date:
- 23rd June 2026 - 25th June 2026
- Location:
- Loughborough University
- Organisation:
- Loughborough University
- Host(s):
- Dr Daniel Butcher, Loughborough University, supported by LaVision
Aim
To provide hands-on experience in collecting and processing full field velocimetry data with a focus on 3D Lagrangian Particle Tracking (3D-LPT), alongside understanding the underlying theory and recent developments in these techniques.
This 2.5-day workshop will begin by covering the basic theory and working principles of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and Particle Tracking Velocimetry (PTV). It will then address advanced applications and recent developments of PIV and PTV techniques. Days 2 and 3 will feature three sessions in which participants will collect PIV/PTV images/data from two experiments, as well as take part in a session on data processing. The workshop is limited to up to 18 attendees, who will be split into three groups.
Target Audience
This workshop is suitable for experimental aerodynamicists, researchers and academics.
