Training Workshop @ University of Glasgow: Low-Speed Wind Tunnel Testing

Location:
Acre Road
Organisation:
University of Glasgow
Host(s):
Dr Richard Green

*This workshop is now fully booked*

You are invited to attend the University of Glasgow for a training event on behalf of the National Wind Tunnel Facility. This workshop is intended for those new to wind tunnel testing, which includes university researchers and industrial personnel alike, and CFD specialists who wish to gain an appreciation of experimental methods or become involved with experimentation.

This will run over two days - 4th and 5th of September, and will consist of morning classroom sessions and live wind tunnel tests in the afternoon to demonstrate some of the important experimental techniques that are used in low-speed wind tunnel testing. Activities will include wind tunnel model installation, aerodynamic testing for loads, use of multi-hole pressure probes and CTA, demonstration of optical methods including LDA and PIV.

The invitation is limited to 12 attendees and 2 attendees per institution depending on levels interest.

The event will run at the University of Glasgow wind tunnel site at Acre Road. This is located to the west of the city, and hosts the deHavilland wind tunnel, which is a large, low-speed wind tunnel. Find out more about the wind tunnel here: https://www.nwtf.ac.uk/facility/dehavilland-low-speed-wind-tunnel/. It is easily accessed from the city centre or the West End where the main campus is based.

Glasgow is a vibrant, bustling city with plenty to discover, and should be a place to visit on any trip to Scotland. You can travel to Glasgow by road, air or rail. Car parking is available at the wind tunnel site.

This is a free event but attendees are expected to fund their own travel and subsistence.
